Hail Damage Roof Replacement
Ogden

Project overview
A spring hailstorm left the homeowner's roof covered in bruised and fractured asphalt shingles, with granule loss visible across nearly every slope. After an inspection by the insurance adjuster, the claim was approved for a full roof replacement to prevent premature roof failure and future leaks.
Since the home was equipped with a rooftop solar system, the homeowner hired Zion Contracting to safely detach and reinstall the array so the roofing contractor could complete the replacement without risking damage to the equipment.

Our approach
Before the roof replacement began, we completed a detailed inspection of the solar system and documented every panel, rail, and electrical connection. Our team carefully removed and labeled all equipment, storing it securely while the roofing contractor installed the new roof.
Once construction was complete, we inspected the new roof, installed fresh flashing and mounting hardware where needed, and reinstalled the solar system according to manufacturer specifications before performing a complete operational test.
What we did
Safely removed the entire rooftop solar system before reroofing.
Cataloged and protected all solar equipment during construction.
Coordinated scheduling with the insurance-approved roofing contractor.
Installed new flashing and inspected all mounting locations.
Reinstalled the complete solar array and electrical components.
Verified system production and confirmed normal inverter operation.
The result
The homeowner received a brand-new roof through their insurance claim while preserving their existing solar investment. The reroof was completed without delays, the solar system was restored to full production, and the home was protected with a durable new roof ready to withstand Utah's changing weather.
“Zion Contracting responded quickly after the storm — professional, clean work, and everything was finished faster than we expected”
