Windstorm Approval
Syracuse

Project overview
A powerful windstorm with gusts exceeding 70 mph tore through the neighborhood, leaving shingles scattered across the homeowner's yard and exposing sections of the roof deck. After an inspection by the insurance adjuster, the damage was determined to be extensive enough to warrant a full roof replacement under the homeowner's insurance policy.
Because the home already had a solar system installed, the roofing contractor partnered with Terrapin Solar to safely detach the system before construction and reinstall it once the new roof was complete.

Our approach
Before any roofing work began, we performed a complete inspection of the solar array and documented every panel, optimizer, and mounting location. Our crew carefully removed the system while protecting the equipment from damage and coordinated closely with the roofing team to minimize downtime.
After the new roof passed final inspection, we reinstalled the mounting hardware using new flashing, reassembled the solar array, and completed a full electrical inspection before re-energizing the system.
What we did
Performed a complete solar deinstall prior to reroofing.
Cataloged and protected all panels and electrical equipment.
Worked directly with the roofing contractor to keep the project on schedule.
Installed new flashing and mounting hardware on the new roof.
Reinstalled the solar array and completed all electrical reconnections.
Tested production, verified inverter operation, and confirmed normal system performance.
The result
The homeowner received a brand-new roof with no delays to the roofing project and no damage to their solar investment. The system was restored to full production, all equipment was operating properly, and the homeowner could enjoy the benefits of both a new roof and a fully functioning solar system with confidence.
